The Ricahrd O. Jacobson Athletic Building opened in 1995. As part of the $7 million "Hawkeye Horizons" project, the Jacobson Building is a 35,000-square-foot facility for use by the football team, trainers, physicians and coaches. The Jacobson Buliding includes an advanced sports medicine facility, weight training rooms, the football lockerrooms, player meeting rooms, coaches lockerroom, and a lounge for use by football student-athletes.
The Iowa weight room is located inside the Jacobson Athletic Building. It is a 10,000 square foot facility that includes a 100-yard indoor training facility, 20 "Power Stations", 10 Olympic platforms and 10 competition Eleiko sets. The largest weight room in the Big Ten Conference - and one of the largest in college football - is staffed by four full-time strength coaches who work exclusively with Iowa's football student-athletes.
