University of Iowa Recreation Building
Iowa's indoor practice and competition facility is the multi-million
dollar Recreation Building. Located within walking distance of the
University's west-side dormitories, Kinnick Stadium and Carver-Hawkeye
Arena, the Recreation Building houses a six-lane mondo-Turf circuit
that was resurfaced in the fall of 2002.
The Hawkeyes hosted the Big Ten Men's Indoor Championships in 1989 and
1997, and the 2004 and 1991 Big Ten Women's Indoor Championships at
the facility.
The Recreation Building also houses the indoor facilities for the
tennis teams, with five courts. The women's team hosts the Hawkeye
Invitational every year at the Recreation Building, while both teams
use the facilities for early spring competition.
Locker rooms, weight training and athletic training space for the Iowa
track and field, cross country, and tennis teams are also located in
the Recreation Building.
