UI Soccer Complex
2665 Prairie Meadows Drive
The Iowa Soccer Complex, home of Iowa's women's soccer team, is located on the corner of Mormon Trek Boulevard and Melrose Avenue, next to the Roy G. Karro Building Athletics Hall of Fame.
The complex consists of a state of the art competition field with lights, which allows the Hawkeyes to play night games, a practice field (located next to the field hockey field), and a new locker room and team room area located inside the new Hawkeye Recreation and Tennis Complex. The Hawkeye Recreation and Tennis Complex also has a 60X50 yard turf area to give the Hawkeyes a training area during inclement weather. The only other Iowa athletic team that uses the turf area is the field hockey team. This allows for flexibility in scheduling time on the turf in the off-season for both individual and team workouts.
The team room and locker room both have large plasma screen televisions which allow the team to watch videotape of their play as well as that of opponents.
"With the addition of the practice field and new locker room and team area, we feel our facilities are competitive with other Big Ten schools and at a par with some of the finest in the nation," commented Ron Rainey, Iowa's soccer coach. "The turf area also adds a fine training environment to improve our speed of play and technique in the off-season when we are not training outside."
