WHAT'S NEW FOR 2008?

No Smoking in or around Kinnick Stadium
Beginning with the 2008 football season, smoking will not be permitted in or around Kinnick Stadium or anywhere on University property. The "Smoke-Free Air Act" (Chapter 142D, Code of Iowa) became law in the State of Iowa on July 1, 2008.

Pre-paid Parking
All season ticket customers who have access to priority parking lots as a result of their annual contribution to the National I-Club will be required to prepay for their game-day parking. No financial transactions will take place at the entrance to priority parking lots on game days. Please contact the UI Athletics Ticket Office for more information or to order your prepaid parking pass.

Sealed Plastic Water Bottles
Sealed plastic water bottles, including tinted bottles, will be permitted in Kinnick Stadium. Flavored water is not permitted.

Recycling
Plastics recycling will now be available in Kinnick Stadium. Please use recycling containers located throughout the stadium.

Please Stay Off The Field!
For the safety of participants and spectators, at no time before, during and after a game are spectators permitted to enter the playing field. Access is strictly limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, team and game support personnel, and properly credentialed individuals. While we love the enthusiasm of our fans, serious injury can occur to fans, coaching staff and student-athletes.

    TICKET AND GATE INFORMATION

    Tickets The UI Athletics Ticket Office at Kinnick Stadium is located in the south grandstand concourse near Sections 113 and 213. UI and Big Ten Conference policies require that all persons must have a ticket. This policy includes infants in arms. The UI Athletics Department is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets. Tickets are issued and sold only by the UI Athletics Ticket Office or authorized ticket outlets at The University of Iowa. Persons purchasing tickets from sources other than the UI Athletics Ticket Office do so at their own risk. The UI Athletics Department reserves the right to revoke tickets. Holders of tickets to UI intercollegiate athletic events agree to abide by Kinnick Stadium and University policies.

    Duplicate Ticket Policy
    The UI Athletics Ticket Office will only replace season tickets purchased by general public and faculty/staff season ticket holders. This service is only available to the individual who initially purchased the ticket. Student tickets are not replaceable under any circumstances.     Disability Seating
    Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa sponsored events. If you are in need of wheelchair seating, please contact the UI Athletics Ticket Office at (319) 335-9327.

    Athletics Ticket Office Business Hours
    The UI Athletics Ticket Office regular business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 402 Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The office can be reached by telephone by calling 1-800-IA-HAWKS or (319) 335-9327

    Ticket Office Hours - Game Day
    On football game days, the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena opens three hours prior to the game and closes at game time. The UI Athletics Ticket Office at Kinnick Stadium located in the southeast corner near gate M, opens three hours prior to game time, and remains open through halftime.

    Athletics Ticket Marketplace
    The University of Iowa's Athletics Ticket Marketplace provides contributors to the National I-Club the opportunity to purchase tickets for home games of the 2008 football team from current season ticket holders. By using the UI's Athletics Ticket Marketplace to purchase your game tickets, you are guaranteed that you are purchasing valid game tickets in a transaction fully supported by the UI Athletics Ticket Office.     Revocation of Season Tickets
    The UI Athletics Department will revoke the season ticket privileges of any individual that violates any provision of its Policy on Revocation of Season Tickets. A copy of the policy was included in the season ticket mailing. Ticket holders are responsible for both their own conduct and the conduct of those who use their tickets to gain admission to athletic events. All spectators who engage in unruly or disruptive behavior or participate in illegal conduct are subject to ejection from all athletic events and possible revocation of the ticket holder's season ticket privileges for the remainder of the year.

    Gate Information
    All entrance gates open 90 minutes prior to kick off.

    No Re-Entry
    Fans are not permitted to exit and re-enter Kinnick Stadium.

    Will Call Gates
    General Will Call is located in the southeast exterior of Kinnick Stadium; Media Will Call is located at Gate I; and the Visiting Team Pass Gate is located at Gate L.

    PARKING POLICIES

    An interactive map indicating the various parking lots available for use on football game days at The University of Iowa is located at uifootballparking.com.

    Opening Time for Lots
    Select University of Iowa parking lots open at 7 p.m. Friday before all home games regardless of the games starting time. All other UI parking lots open at 7 a.m. on the day of each home game.

    Pre-paid Parking
    Policy: All season ticket customers who have access to priority parking lots as a result of their annual contribution to the National I-Club will be required to pay for their game-day parking when making their 2008 season ticket purchase; no financial transactions will take place at the entrance to priority parking lots on game days. As in previous years, only individuals with the appropriate parking placard will be allowed entry into reserved parking lots (priority parking lots) managed by the UI. A priority parking placard does not guarantee parking in a specific lot but is required for entry into parking lots adjacent to/or near Kinnick Stadium.

    Reason: Fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes attending the home games of the 2008 University of Iowa football team at Kinnick Stadium will have streamlined access to UI-managed parking lots as a result of the implementation of a pre-paid parking program.

    Handicap Parking
    Parking for persons with disabilities is available in Hospital Ramp #2 and limited space in the surface lot directly north of Kinnick Stadium.

    Hawkeye Express
    Passengers on the Hawkeye Express leave the driving to the Hawkeyes and ride in luxury from parking areas conveniently located minutes off Interstate 80 near Coral Ridge Mall in nearby Coralville to the southwest corner of historic Kinnick Stadium.

    Parking is free and the round-trip train service costs just $10 per person with children 12 and under riding for free. Service to Kinnick Stadium - a 10-minute ride - begins 3 hours prior to kickoff. Service post-game begins at the start of the fourth quarter and continues until 90 minutes after the game.

    Tickets for the Hawkeye Express can be purchased in advance at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau Visitors Information Desk at Coral Ridge Mall. Tickets will also be available for purchase on game-day upon arrival at the Hawkeye Express depot.

    The Hawkeye Express is not wheelchair accessible. On game days, patrons with disabilities restricting their mobility are invited to use the parking spaces reserved in Hospital Ramp #2 and limited space in the lot directly north of Kinnick Stadium.

    Free Shuttles
    Several UI parking lots offer free parking and free shuttles to the game. The Hancher Auditorium parking lot shuttle will pick up in front of Clapp Hall and drop off at the bus loop on Newton Road. The Hawkeye Commuter parking lot offers free parking and free shuttle pick up at the shelter house in the lot and drop off at the bus stop on Elliott Drive east of Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The UI Athletics Hall of Fame parking lot offers free parking and a free shuttle pick up at the parking lot and drop off at the bus stop on Elliott Drive east of Carver-Hawkeye Arena. All shuttle service begins two hours prior to kickoff.

    Closed Streets
    Policy: Stadium Drive north of Kinnick Stadium will close for 20 minutes immediately after the end of each game. Vehicular traffic will not be permitted to exit lot 43 directly north of Kinnick Stadium during this time. Hawkins Drive east of Kinnick Stadium will be closed to post-game vehicular traffic.

    Reason: Pedestrian traffic is extremely heavy.

    Parking in Designated Areas
    Policy: Automobiles and motor homes may park only in designated areas.

    Reason: In order to efficiently use every parking lot, specific locations are assigned for automobiles and motor homes. Also, for the safety of tailgaters, travel lanes must remain clear for vehicles to pass, especially emergency vehicles.

    Law Enforcement and Traffic Directions
    Policy: Motorists should follow the directions given by law enforcement, traffic and parking staff.

    Reason: Law enforcement, traffic and parking staff along traffic routes and at parking lots are there to direct motorists to the best routes for the closest available parking and provide other assistance as necessary.

    Saving Spaces
    Policy: Saving parking spaces for other motorists is not permitted in any lot.

    Reason: Parking on the University of Iowa campus is on a first-come, first served basis except in lots with reserved spaces.

    Spaces for Vehicles Only
    Policy: Parking spaces are for vehicles only. The use of a parking space for other reasons, such as portable grills, trailers, tents, chairs, etc. is not permitted.

    Reason: There are a limited number of parking spaces on the University of Iowa campus for the 70,000 fans that attend games. It is important to make every space available for use for parking.

    Travel Lanes
    Policy: Tailgating is not permitted in travel lanes on roads or parking lots. No tents, chairs or other items may be placed in travel lanes.

    Reason: In order to efficiently use every parking lot, vehicles must be able to access parking spots via travel lanes. Also, for the safety of tailgaters, travel lanes must remain clear for vehicles to pass, especially emergency vehicles.

    OVERSIZED VEHICLE PARKING

    Motor Home (RV) and Bus Parking
    K/C RV and bus parking is located in specific areas in Lot 43 west of the Recreation Building. 1F RV parking is located in Lot 40 east of Carver-Hawkeye Arena and will be accessed from Hawkins Drive. 2F RV parking is located in the Finkbine Commuter lot accessed off of Hawkins Drive. General Public RV parking is available in the Hawkeye Commuter, Hall of Fame, hard surface lot at Finkbine Golf Course, Lower Finkbine and Softball Complex lots. Free parking and shuttle service are available from the Hancher Commuter Lot (east) and the Hawkeye Commuter Lot (west) starting two hours prior to kick off.

    Charter Bus parking is located along Hawkins Drive next to the Dental College Parking lot. Please stop at the designated area east of Kinnick Stadium and next to Hospital Ramp #2 to pay the $30 fee and proceed north on Hawkins Drive to the bus parking area. No tailgating space is available next to bus parking.

    Buses with storage decks on top are not permitted.

    Utility Trailers and Pull-Behind Motor Homes/5th Wheels
    Policy: Utility trailers and pull-behind/5th Wheel trailers are not permitted to park in reserved lots. Parking is available in the Hawkeye Commuter lot. Lot T on the football parking map.

    Reason: Spaces in reserved lots are reserved exclusively for cars or motor homes. Even if a utility trailer or pull-behind motor home/5th wheel fits into a motor home space, it can cause tailgate parties to overflow into travel lanes causing a hazard for other vehicles and the passage of emergency vehicles.

    TAILGATING

    Bands
    Policy: Live musical bands are not allowed at tailgating areas.

    Reason: This policy is intended to protect the enjoyment of other fans. Musical tastes and tolerable noise levels vary greatly from tailgate party to tailgate party.

    Music (Amplified)
    Policy: Music must be confined to your tailgate area and speakers must be directed into your tailgate party.

    Reason: This policy is intended to protect the enjoyment of other fans. Musical tastes and tolerable noise levels vary greatly from tailgate party to tailgate party.

    Caterers
    Policy: Caterers must have proper parking permits to gain entry into reserved UI parking lots.

    Reason: Parking lot attendants are instructed to only allow vehicles with the appropriate parking permits into reserved UI parking lots. They cannot be expected to monitor vehicles that intend to drop off items and leave the lots.

    Flammables
    Policy: Charcoal must be disposed of in designated containers located throughout parking lots. Please do not place charcoal or other flammables in trash cans, under trees or unattended in the parking areas.
    Reason: Even items that appear to be extinguished may remain flammable and cause fires.

    Balloons, Blimps or Other Inflatables
    Policy: Inflatables such as balloons and blimps are prohibited from being flown or tethered from vehicles parked in the lots.

    Reason: Teathered inflatables of any kind pose a danger in addition to creating a safety risk for others in the parking lots and to air ambulances arriving and departing from UI Hospitals and Clinics.

    Alcohol Policy
    Policy: Fans are advised that state law prohibits hard liquor consumption or possession of an opened bottle of hard liquor on public property. University Police will empty any opened, visible bottle of hard liquor. Any persons who appear intoxicated and those possessing or drinking alcohol in unapproved areas of the Kinnick Stadium will be refused entry, are subject to arrest, and will be ejected without refund. Any alcohol discovered in unapproved areas in the stadium will be confiscated. The University reserves the right to search patrons for alcoholic beverages. For your personal safety, the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Department of Public Safety request all beverages consumed in the parking lots be in paper or plastic drinking cups.

    Reason: In an effort to encourage an enjoyable experience for all fans attending games at Kinnick Stadium, persons who are intoxicated or who are in possession of alcohol will be removed from the stadium.

    Tents
    Policy: Tents, tarps or canopies are not permitted if they impede foot or vehicular traffic or if they extend into additional parking space. Violators of this policy will be asked by University Police Officers to dismantle the tent, tarp, or canopy.

    Reason: There are a limited number of parking spaces on the University of Iowa campus for the 70,000 fans that attend games. It is important to make every space available for parking. They can also cause tailgate parties to overflow into travel lanes causing a hazard for other vehicles and the passage of emergency vehicles.

    Security and Safety
    Policy: It is the responsibility of each fan to secure tailgate items prior to entering the stadium. Fans should lock food, beverages and valuables out of sight in vehicles; extinguish all fires or flames; unplug all electrical outlets; secure barbeque pits, chairs, and ice chests; and store alcoholic beverages in locked containers.

    Reason: The University of Iowa cannot ensure the security of tailgate areas.

    STADIUM INFORMATION

    Items Allowed
    Only small purses (8 ½ x 11), fanny packs, binocular cases, blankets and seat cushions will be allowed into Kinnick Stadium. Patrons with infants will be permitted to bring a diaper bag. All items will be searched at specific entrance gates. Patrons are subject to search and the University reserves the right to refuse entry.

    Items Not Permitted
    Bags of any size, alcoholic beverages, botas, all coolers, canned or bottled beverages (except sealed clear or tinted plastic water bottles), thermoses, back packs, kegs, banners and signs, personal seat backs, large lens cameras, tripods, umbrellas, strollers, noisemakers, horns, bugles, or any other disruptive device. These items should be left in your vehicle. Admission will be denied to anyone carrying any such items.

    Fans can utilize coin-operated lockers located in the UI Recreation Building located immediately northwest of Kinnick Staidum to secure items not permitted in Kinnick Stadium. The UI Athletics Department is not responsible for items placed in lockers or left at gates.

    ATMs
    ATMs are located in the west concourse of Kinnick Stadium near Gate G, the north concourse near Gate I, and in the center of the south grandstand concourse near Gate A.

    Lost and Found
    Lost and Found is located at the Patron Services area in the south concourse near section 213 until one hour after the game. After this time, lost items may be claimed by calling 319-335-9410 or by inquiring in person at the UI Athletics Department Facility Manager's Office, 111 Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Iowa City, IA 52242-1020.

    Fan Courtesy/Respect Policy
    For the safety and enjoyment of all fans at Kinnick Stadium, The University of Iowa and the Iowa Hawkeyes encourage respectful, courteous and considerate behavior by all fans. It is our intention to provide the very best game-day experience possible and we can only accomplish that goal if you are fully aware of your responsibility as a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

    Remember, as a fan, you are representing The University of Iowa, so act appropriately. Be proud and cheer loud but remember to watch your language, there are children in the stands.

    The following behavior will not be tolerated and will result in ejection from Kinnick Stadium and may result in arrest and revocation of season tickets:

  • Foul, abusive language or obscene gestures
  • The appearance of intoxication or other signs of impairment
  • Possession or drinking of alcohol in unapproved areas in the stadium
  • Fighting, taunting or threatening remarks or gestures; unruly and disruptive fans
  • Any disruption of the game by fans' actions

    Rest Rooms
    Men's and women's rest rooms are located throughout Kinnick Stadium. Portable rest rooms are located outside Kinnick Stadium and in UI parking lots. Specially-equipped rest rooms for persons with disabilities are located in the northwest corner of the north grandstand and in the south grandstand concourse near sections 215 and 218. Prior to the gates opening, persons with disabilities can utilize the handicap accessible rest rooms by entering Kinnick Stadium through Gates H, I, M and B.

    Game Programs, Concessions, Novelties
    Game programs are sold at numerous locations outside Kinnick Stadium. Concession stands are located throughout Kinnick Stadium. Novelty items may be purchased at the Iowa Hawk Shop locations inside Kinnick Stadium at stands in the four corners and Section 111 in the south grandstand concourse, or at portable stands in various locations outside Kinnick Stadium.

    Emergency Medical Services
    Medical services are available at all University of Iowa home football games. If you need medical assistance, please notify the nearest University Police, security officer or usher. The First Aid Station, staffed by a physician and nurse, is located in the south grandstand concourse near section 212. Paramedic teams are also located in the middle of the four grandstands of Kinnick Stadium. Patrons are reminded to dress for prevailing weather conditions and to bring required prescription medication that might be needed during their visit to Kinnick Stadium. If you have health care problems or anticipate any special needs, please contact the University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at (319) 335-9247.

    Lost patrons and persons looking for lost patrons should contact University Police, security personnel, ticket takers or ushers located throughout the stadium or go to the game day headquarters for University Police which is located in the west concourse near Section 123.

    Public Address Announcements
    Only emergency announcements will be made during the game. Please contact University Police, security officers or ushers for assistance.

    Game Day Hotline
    Fans can report emergencies (medical or intolerable behavior) by calling the Game Day Hotline (319) 384-3000. Game management staff will assist and dispatch the appropriate entities. We also encourage contacting the nearest University Police, security officer or usher for assistance. Please note this phone number is only answered on game days.

    Radios and Cameras Radios and cameras will be permitted, but please be discreet in the use of radios.

    Telephones
    Courtesy phones for local calls only are available in the south concourse near Gate A.
