Hey Windy City...Here Come the Hawkeyes!
The University of Iowa football team will open its 2007 season against Northern Illinois University on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Soldier Field in Chicago. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. (Iowa time) and the game will be televised live to a national television audience on ESPNU. The visit to the Windy City will be a first for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Labor Day Weekend match-up between teams from the Big Ten Conference and the Mid-American Conference will also be the first football game played between NCAA Division I opponents in the facility that overlooks Lake Michigan since the completion of a multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation was completed in 2003. The game is the second in a home-and-neutral site series for the Hawkeyes and the Huskies. Iowa defeated Northern Illinois 24-14 last October in a game played before a sellout crowd inside historic Kinnick Stadium.
