Director of Group Sales

The University of Iowa and Hawkeye Sports Properties, Inc., a property of Learfield Sports and the multi-media rights partner of the University of Iowa Department of Athletics, is seeking a self-motivated individual to market group sales tickets and provide administrative support. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will develop and implement ticket sales strategies for targeted prospects for purchasing tickets to select University of Iowa intercollegiate athletics events with an emphasis on football, men's basketball, women's basketball and wrestling events through in person connections with individuals, community leaders, organizations and groups including local and regional businesses. Researches and identifies prospective customers, makes connections and cultivates relationships. Works closely with the UI Athletics Department's director of marketing and staff of Hawkeye Sports Properties, the UI's multi-media partner, to create and market theme nights and to maximize ticket sales opportunities among corporate partners. Provides game-day support to the External Affairs Unit and/or Hawkeye Sports Properties as assigned. Coordinates with appropriate staff of the UI Athletics Ticket Office on the tracking of group ticket sales, fulfillment of group sales ticket orders, and the maintenance of a variety of databases.

QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelors degree or a combination of experience and education is required. Experience in sales; demonstrated experience in cold calling; ability to work irregular hours including nights and weekends including most, if not all, home University of Iowa football, men's basketball, women's basketball, and wrestling events; excellent communication skills; ability to self-motivate; and proven record of achieving significant results is required. Successful candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.

SALARY: Position earns commission on sales and a competitive base salary and benefits.
