The University of Iowa men's basketball season ended with an 87-68 loss to Villanova in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday. The Hawkeyes finished 22-11. Senior guard Mike Gesell says there is a bright future ahead for the Iowa program.

Hitting coach Marty Sutherland liked his team's approach at the plate Tuesday during a 28-0 home-opening victory over Northwestern College at Banks Field. The Hawkeyes (4-6) had 18 hits and no errors. Now it's off to Georgia for the Spring Swing at LakePointe.

It was another white-knuckle ride for the University of Iowa women's basketball team Saturday during a 61-56 win over Illinois. While it was Senior Night, freshman Megan Gustafson led the Hawkeyes with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Iowa opens Big Ten Tournament play Thursday against Michigan.
