Two-time Iowa captain and former MVP Norm Granger has been named the Iowa football team's honorary captain for Saturday's game against Iowa State. Kickoff is set for 11:10 a.m. in Kinnick Stadium. The game is sold out

Granger, a native of Newark, NJ, was a four-time letterman (1980-83) at fullback for the Hawkeyes. He served as team co-captain in 1982 and 1983 and was the team's co-Most Valuable Player in 1983.

Norm was a three year starter at fullback and was honorable mention all-Big Ten as a sophomore and senior. He was hurt much of his junior season. He had 1,100 career rushing yards on 203 attempts for a 5.5 average. He also caught 45 career passes for 409 yards.

The Hawkeyes went to the Rose, Peach and Gator Bowls his final three years at Iowa. The Hawkeyes were 25-11 during his last three years on the squad. He was selected to play in the 1983 Hula Bowl all-star game and was drafted in the fifth round of the 1984 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys

As honorary captain he'll address the team prior to the game and will be with the Hawkeyes on the sidelines. He'll also accompany the current game captains to the center of the field for the pre-game coin toss.
