IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The nationally ranked Iowa Hawkeyes continues their march through the 2010 Big Ten Conference schedule with the first of two straight 2:30 p.m. Iowa time games inside historic Kinnick Stadium later today when they entertain Wisconsin in the annual battle for the Heartland Trophy.

The game that could be college football's version of a heavy-weight title bout: Two teams with that love to run the football and have the offensive lines to do it against two teams that have proven they can play pretty good defense. The wildcard? Both teams have pretty good quarterbacks who have also proven more than capable of throwing the ball.

"I think it's experience," Kirk Ferentz said this week about his field general, senior Ricky Stanzi - and noted candidly that the exact same can be said of Badger quarterback Scott Tolzien.

"Ricky was a great guy last year and a very good player. He's playing at a higher level (this season). Experience is a real benefit at any position, if you take advantage of it. That's the other part of the equation."

The game is the 86th in the series which sits at 42-41-2 in Iowa's favor thanks to victories in the last two games and six of the last eight. The Hawkeyes have a commanding edge in games played in Kinnick, 24-15-1.

"It's been a great series," Ferentz said Tuesday when he visited with the media. "I fully expect another really hard-fought, tough football game."
