The University of Iowa is seeking qualified applicants for Head Golf Professional for Finkbine Golf Course. This is a full-time, nine-month position with University benefits, starting date approximately March 1, 2009.
The Head Golf Professional reports to the Director of Golf Operations and is responsible for providing a dedicated effort in support of a complete recreation experience to the golfing public who visit Finkbine Golf Course. This position will assist the Director of Golf Operations in supervising all aspects of daily business; overseeing duties of the assistant golf professional(s) and part-time hourly staff; managing resources through daily golf reservations, golf outings, lessons, clinics, tournaments and pro shop sales; and adhering to the rules and regulations of the University, the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) or an equivalent combination of education and experience; certification as a Class "A" member of PGA of America in Good Standing or PGA of America Level 2 Apprentice; some (6 months - 1 year) experience in successfully administering a golf course operation; excellent customer service, communication, public relations and teaching skills; proficiency in computer software applications required (e.g. Fairway, spreadsheets, word processing). Preferred qualifications: A minimum of two years experience managing the daily golf operations and a demonstrated ability in marketing, selling and developing a vision for a public/university golf course are preferred. Preference will be given to candidates that can most effectively meet the development needs of the golf course operation.
