Herky on Parade
Following in the hoof prints of "Cows on Parade" in Chicago and the footprints of "Overalls All Over" in Cedar Rapids, Herky on Parade is a public art project that will take the Hawkeye spirit to the streets of Iowa City and Coralville beginning in early May through the end of November. As many as 75 statues of the official mascot of the Iowa Hawkeyes, decorated by local and not-so-local, professional and not-so-professional artists, will dot the landscape as the greater University of Iowa community celebrates the 75th anniversary of historic Kinnick Stadium. Herky on Parade is a joint effort of the University of Iowa Athletic Department, the Iowa City and Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the City of Iowa City and the City of Coralville. Fans of public art and the Iowa Hawkeyes can follow Herky on Parade on the web at www.herkyonparade.com.
