2 UI Doubles Teams Reach Semifinals at B1G Indoor Championships

MADISON, Wis. — Two University of Iowa men’s tennis doubles teams advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Indoor Championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
 
Juniors Josh Silverstein and Lefteris Theodorou recorded a victory over Remy/Colton of Wisconsin, while sophomore Jonas Larsen and redshirt freshmen Kareem Allaf beat Northwestern’s Ephron/Seidman. Both pairs of Hawkeyes fell in the semifinals to the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded duos, respectively.
 
In singles consolation, Allaf and junior Jake Jacoby won their matches today. Jacoby beat Wisconsin’s Chase Colton, 2-6, 6-4, 10-7, and Allaf defeated Penn State’s Nika Dolidze, 6-2, 6-4.
 
Sophomore Tony Leto split his consolation matches. He advanced by forfeit to David Samardzija and dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision to David Kohan of Penn State.
 
Senior Nils Hallestrand and freshmen Jason Kerst both fell in their singles consolation matches. The two Hawkeyes also teamed up for doubles and fell in their consolation match.
