Hawkeyes Conclude Kitty Harrison Invite

24 Hawkeyes to Watch 2016-17 | Hawk Talk Monthly — November

RALEIGH DURHAM, North Carolina — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team concluded the Kitty Harrison Invite and its fall season Sunday. The Hawkeyes played against top teams from Power 5 conferences over the three-day event. 
 
 
“This was a very productive weekend for us,” said UI head coach Sasha Schmid. “We played some great competition and the team battled in their matches throughout the weekend.”
 
Montana Crawford and Carin Runefelt led Iowa on Day 3. Both players won matches in straight sets Sunday.
 
Crawford defeated Maryland’s Vsul, 6-1, 6-1, and Runefelt defeated Stein from Davidson, 6-2, 6-0. Crawford finished the weekend 2-1 while Runefelt went 2-2 for the weekend in singles play.  
 
The Hawkeyes now wait until January to begin their regular season. Iowa will face the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, on Jan. 15 in the first match of the regular season.  
 
“I’m encouraged by the team’s progress throughout the fall,” said Schmid. “I’m looking forward to the season beginning in January.”
