IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa Athletics Department announced Friday that home football games versus Iowa State (Sept. 10) and Michigan (Nov. 12) have reached sellout status.  In addition, the UI has sold all 8,200 student season tickets for the seven home games in Kinnick Stadium.

33849Due to the sellout of the two evening games in Kinnick Stadium (6:30 p.m. for Iowa State and 7 p.m. for Michigan), the UI has stopped selling season tickets and three-game ticket packages.  Additionally, home games against North Dakota State (Sept. 17) and Wisconsin (Oct. 22) have less than 2,500 tickets remaining.

“We anticipated a boost in ticket sales following our 2015 championship season,” said Gary Barta, the UI’s director of athletics. It’s exciting to see the momentum build and we’re grateful for the support Hawkeye fans continue to show our program.  I can’t wait to see the fun and energy in and around Kinnick Stadium.

“Our student sales have increased 35 percent from a year ago,” added Barta.  “Student attendance plays a key role in the atmosphere within Kinnick Stadium on game day.
And, we want our students to enjoy the experience and become Hawkeye fans for life.”

Fans can still obtain tickets to five Hawkeye home games, by purchasing online at hawkeyesports.com, over the phone by calling 1-800 IA-HAWKS, or at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Group packages remain for select home games and can be purchased by contacting Rachael Bedell, group sales coordinator, at (319) 384-4299 or rachael-bedell@hawkeyesports.com. Groups interested in turn-key game-day hospitality inside Hawkeye Village, should contact Bravo Sports Marketing at (319) 626-8286.

Fans attending games at Kinnick Stadium should note the University of Iowa has adopted a clear bag policy. Only clear bags 12″x6″x12″ in size will be allowed into Kinnick Stadium.  Clutch bags no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ will also be allowed.  A complimentary bag check will once again be available in the Recreation Building for items not allowed inside the stadium.

In addition, fans are invited to enjoy the atmosphere around Kinnick Stadium throughout football game days, and responsible tailgating will be encouraged with relaxed hours following home football games this fall, except after night games. Post-game tailgating will still be prohibited for games starting after 6:00 p.m.

The Hawkeyes ranked 24th in home attendance in 2015, with one sellout (40-35 win over Minnesota).  Iowa has not had more than one sellout in a season since 2011, when tickets to all seven home games were sold out.

In addition to Iowa State and Michigan, the Hawkeyes host Miami, Ohio (Sept. 3, 2:30 p.m.), North Dakota State (Sept. 17, 11 a.m.), Northwestern (Homecoming, Oct. 1, 11 a.m.), Wisconsin (Oct. 22, TBA) and Nebraska (Nov. 25, TBA).

In posting a 12-2 over record a year ago, the Hawkeyes won all seven home games on the way to claiming the Big Ten Conference West Division title.  Iowa competed in the Big Ten Championship game and the 2016 Rose Bowl Game.
