Iowa Concludes Competition at Big Ten Singles Tournament

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team concluded singles play on Sunday at the Big Ten Singles Tournament held at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Facility.

Iowa dropped five of their Round of 16 matchups with two of the five matches going three sets.
 
The Hawkeyes rebounded in consolation action, winning three matches. 
 
Jason Kerst defeated Michigan State’s Jack Winkler, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7. 
 
Senior Jake Jacoby had an impressive day posting two wins against Jacob Wareti and Billy Shisler of Ohio State and Michigan State, respectively.  
 
The Hawkeyes had bright moments at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with a pair of freshmen being finalists in the doubles bracket and a Big Ten-best five student-athletes advancing to the Round of 16 in singles play. The fall campaign has come to an end with Iowa in a good position to have a great spring.
 
Iowa will begin its team season in January against Marquette and Western Michigan.
