THIS WEEK FOR THE HAWKEYES
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team faces UT Arlington on Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT) in Arlington, Texas

HAWKEYES WIN ROAD DOUBLEHEADER
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team defeated Western Michigan, 4-3, and Marquette, 5-2, last Saturday. The Hawkeyes have started the season 7-0 for the first time since 2008 when the they started, 8-0. 

TAKING ON THE MAVERICKS
The Mavericks have started the season 2-3. They’ve picked up wins against Houston (4-2) and UT Rio Grande Valley (7-0). UT Arlington has also suffered close loses to Michigan State (4-3) and UTEP (4-3). The Mavericks have a doubleheader against Oral Roberts and Prairie View A&M on Friday before hosting the Hawkeyes on Sunday.

REIMCHEN/THOMS REMAIN UNBEATEN
Junior Anastasia Reimchen and sophomore Kristen Thoms are still yet to lose a singles match this season. Reimchen has started the season, 6-0, and Thoms has a team-best, 7-0 start to the season. In addition to her 7-0 singles start, Thoms has also posted a 4-0 doubles mark. Montana Crawford and Aimee Tarun are also unbeaten in singles play this season. 

DOUBLES SUCCESS
The Hawkeyes have won the doubles point in each of their last six matches. Their first match of the season is the only time the Hawkeyes didn’t win the doubles point so far this season.  As a team, Iowa is 13-4 in doubles play. 

CHASING HISTORY
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team is off to its best start since 2008. The Hawkeyes currently sit at 7-0 and look to move to 8-0 this weekend in Arlington, Texas. The best start in program history came in 1990 when the Hawkeyes started, 12-0.  

DEADLY DOUBLES WITH DOUGLAS
University of Iowa junior Zoe Douglas has been the common denominator on Iowa’s top doubles team. She opened the 2017 season with five consecutive doubles victories with freshman Elise van Heuvelen at the No. 1 doubles position, and recorded one victory with senior Natalie Looney. Douglas and junior Anastasia Reimchen were 7-5 last season and reached as high as No. 49 in the country. Douglas has a 45-29 career record in doubles. 

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKEYES
The Hawkeyes return home next weekend after three consecutive road matches. Iowa will host Evansville at 10 a.m. (CT) and Western Illinois at 1 p.m. (CT) in a doubleheader on Saturday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
