Hawkeyes 6th Through 36 Holes at Westbrook Spring Invite

PEORIA, Arizona – The University of Iowa women’s golf team is in sixth in a field of 13 teams following the first two rounds of the Westbrook Spring Invitational on Sunday. The Hawkeyes posted scores of 292 and 294 on the first 36 holes at the Westbrook Vistas Golf Course for a total of 586 (+10).
 
Kansas leads the field (E; 576), while Kansas State followed in second (+2; 578) and Illinois finished third (+4; 580).
 
34529Freshman Sophie Liu paced the Hawkeyes with a two-round total of 143 (-1; 70, 73). She’s tied for ninth place heading into the final round. Liu’s two rounds were highlighted by 23 holes at par and an impressive eight birdies on holes one, seven (twice), eight, 13, 14, 15 and 17. The freshman’s first round score of 70 and 36-hole score of 143 mark new career bests.
 
Junior Jessica Ip also had a strong day for the Hawkeyes, posting a two-round score of 144 (E) with rounds of 68 (-4) and 76 (+4). Ip made par or better on 16 holes in her first round and added birdies on holes five, 14, and 15 in round two. She is tied for 11th heading into the final round. The junior’s first round score of 68 ties her career low, which was first recorded during the first round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational last season.
 
Senior Jessie Sindlinger posted rounds of 74 (+2) and 72 (E) for a two-round score of 146 (+2). Her rounds were highlighted by 22 holes at par and six birdies on holes four, eight, nine, 10, 14, and 18. The senior is tied for 18th with one round left to play.
 
Rounding out the Hawkeyes are sophomores Shawn Rennegarbe and Kristin Glesne. Rennegarbe registered a two-round total of 154 (+10; 80, 74), and Glesne tallied a score of 157 (+13; 82, 75). Rennegarbe is tied for 58th, while Glesne is tied for 67th. Junior Elisa Suarez – competing as an individual – is tied for 65th with a two-round total 156 (+12), recording rounds of 77 (+5) and 79 (+7).
