Hawkeyes Grab First Big Ten Victory

LINCOLN, Neb. — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team picked up their first Big Ten win of the spring season, posting a 5-2 road victory over Nebraska on Friday inside the Dillon Tennis Center.
 
Iowa (9-4, 1-1) started the match off with wins on doubles courts one and three. The Hawkeye duo of senior Robin Haden and junior Jake Jacoby improved to 10-1 after posting a 6-1 victory over Micah Klousia and Tomislav Antoljak after Iowa juniors Josh Silverstein and Lefteris Theodorou previously won on court one, 6-4.
 
In singles action, Jacoby pulled off another win to be the first Hawkeye off the court in what marked his seventh straight-set triumph of the season, cruising 6-1, 6-0. The native of Little Rock, Arkansas, is now 8-3 overall.
 
Haden recorded his first Big Ten win this season with an 8-6, 2-6, 1-0, defeat over Chris Dean in the four spot. Silverstein picked up the Hawkeye winner over Nebraska’s top guy, sophomore Toby Boyer, 6-3, 6-4. SophomoreJonas Larsen registered Iowa’s other victory in singles competition, 6-4, 6-2, in the fifth position.
 
The Hawkeyes return to action March 16, at the USD/SDSU Invite in San Diego, California.
