IOWA CITY, Iowa — Two University of Iowa men’s golfers – senior Raymond Knoll and sophomore Matthew Walker — earned second team All-Big Ten recognition, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. Senior Carson Schaake was named Iowa’s Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Iowa now has 32 All-Big Ten honorees in program history and has had at least one golfer earn all-conference laurels in each of the last seven seasons.

Walker, a native of Ottumwa, Iowa, earns the first All-Big Ten recognition of his career. The sophomore has competed in every tournament for the Hawkeyes since arriving on campus in 2015. Walker owns a 72.16 strokes-per-round average this season — the lowest average on the team. He has posted a team-leading four top-10 finishes, recorded a top-20 finish seven times, and leads the team with 15 rounds at-or below-par this season. Walker posted his best tournament of the spring at the Mason Rudolph Invitational on April 2, carding a three-under-par 210 to tie for 15th. Walker also posted a 210 (-3) at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Oct. 25.

Knoll, a native of Naperville, Illinois, earns the second All-Big Ten honor of his career and his first conference recognition since 2015. The two-time Division I PING All-Midwest Regional honoree, owns a 72.22 strokes per round average this season — the second lowest on the team. The senior has posted three top-10 finishes, four top-20 finishes, and recorded 12 rounds at or below par this season. Knoll posted his best tournament of the spring at the Schenkel Invitational on March 17-19, carding a five-under-par 211 to tie for eighth overall. Knoll also took medalist honors at the Chechessee Club Dual (70; E) on March 12, and finished third at the GolfWeek Conference Challenge on Oct 2 (-7; 209).

Knoll, Walker, and the Hawkeyes have advanced to NCAA competition in each of the last eight seasons. This year’s selection show will air live on the Golf Channel on Thursday, May 4 at 11 a.m. (CT).
