Kemerer, Wilcke Named to AWN All-Rookie Team

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa redshirt freshmen Michael Kemerer and Cash Wilcke have been named to the 2017 Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team.
 
Kemerer, a native of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, was named to the All-Rookie first team at 157 pounds. Wilcke, a native of Battle Creek, Iowa, was named to the All-Rookie second team at 197.
 
Kemerer led the Hawkeyes with 33 wins and placed third at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors. He opened the season 19-0, won the 157-pound title at the Midlands Championships, and spent the last three months of the year ranked No. 2 nationally.
 
Wilcke posted an overall record of 19-13 and a Big Ten mark of 5-3. He was the last man in at the 2017 NCAA Championships, earning an at-large berth at 197 pounds and eventually advancing to the round of 12, falling one win shy of the All-America stand.
 
The 2017 AWN All-Rookie Teams were announced Tuesday.
