IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Josh Silverstein is ranked No. 66 nationally in the preseason singles rankings. The announcement came on Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The ranking of 66th is the highest singles ranking by a Hawkeye since two-time Big Ten Player of the Year Tyler Cleveland’s No. 56 ranking in 2001. Bart van Monsjou was 67th in 2008.

Silverstein, who is one of only six Big Ten players ranked in the top 75, earned the highest ranking of his career (previous high was No. 103 in Feb. 8, 2017).

The native of Great Neck, New York, enters his senior season with 51 career singles wins, four shy of cracking Iowa’s top 15 list of all-time singles victories. Silverstein will open individual competition this fall at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Sept. 20-25.
