MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Senior Josh Silverstein and sophomore Kareem Allaf represented the University of Iowa men’s tennis team on day three of the 42nd annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Saturday.

Silverstein and Allaf fought Old Dominion’s Jacob Nicolussi and Michael Weindl hard in the ITA Gold Event doubles semifinals. After a long hard fought battle the Hawkeye duo fell short, 8-6, but left the court with reasons for optimism.

“Kareem and I competed but just couldn’t quite get it done today,” said Silverstein. “Overall, it was a very good first tournament of the fall, but I expect more out of myself and hope to get better results at the All-American Tournament.”

Silverstein started the day with an early morning singles match against Stefan Milicevic of Minnesota. The senior from Great Neck, New York, lost the quarterfinals match, 7-5, 6-0.

In the consolation singles bracket, Allaf lost to Alex Brown from Illinois, 6-3, 7-6.
