2019 — One of four team captains… two-year team captain… went 2-1 with a 7.04 ERA in 20 appearances… had 23 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings… notched his second win at Ohio State (4/27)… made two scoreless appearances against Nebraska, allowing one hit and fanning four over 2 1/3 innings… earned his first win against Chicago State (3/20), tossing a hitless ninth… got out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam against Simpson College (3/19).

2018 — Went 0-0 with a 10.24 ERA in nine appearances with one save… didn’t pitch the final two months because of injury… earned his first career save, allowing one hit in two shutout innings against Oakland (2/17)… one of four team captains for 2018 season… rated as the 30th-best MLB Draft prospect in the Big Ten by D1Baseball.com.

at World University Games (2017) — Made two relief appearances… tossed 2 1/3 innings in games against Japan (8/22) and Korea (8/26).

2017 Honors — Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American. 2017 — Went 5-1 with a 3.18 ERA over 18 appearances… allowed just 18 hits over 28 1/3 innings and had 26 strikeouts, but 23 walks… held opponents to a .186  batting average… went 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA in two Big Ten Tournament appearances… logged a career-high three innings against Minnesota, allowing one run on three hits… allowed one run on one hit and had a 2.45 ERA over two appearances, spanning 3 2/3 innings, in NCAA Regional play… picked up his fifth win, tossing one perfect inning and striking out a pair against Omaha (5/16)… tallied his fourth win, allowing one run on one hit over two innings of relief at Michigan State (5/7)… missed three weeks from April 11-May 1 after being diagnosed with mono… returned to the mound for his first appearance in nearly a month… tossed two shutout innings, fanning three at Western Illinois (5/2)… tallied his third win, tossing two shutout innings, allowing one hit against South Dakota State (4/4)… notched his second win, allowing one hit and fanning three in two shutout innings in series-clinching victory over Purdue (3/26)… earned his first career victory, tossing 1 2/3 shutout innings at Kansas State (3/19).

2016 — Redshirted… did not see any game action.

High School — Ranked as a Top-500 prospect nationally by Perfect Game… two-time NI Conference Most Valuable Player, two-time all-conference, and two-time Beacon News All-Area team honoree… Perfect Game Preseason All-American as a junior… went 4-4 with a 3.33 ERA with 59 strikeouts as sophomore… did not pitch as a junior, hit .343 with 14 doubles and three home runs… missed his senior season after undergoing Tommy John surgery… helped team to state titles in 2013 and 2014 and a runner-up finish in 2015… played for the Illinois Sparks club team from 2011-15… also was an all-area selection in basketball, where he received the Coach’s Award… eight-time High Honor Roll, three-time academic all-conference, and and three-time recipient of the Academic Excellence Award… National Honor Society… high school coach was Scott Luken… club coaches were Kevin Sefcik and Bill Copp.

Personal — Born Oct. 4, 1996… son of Tim and Sue Shimp… has three younger siblings, Bailey, Carter, and Ryan… uncle, Bill Shimp, played college baseball at Iowa State… majoring in finance.
