The following is a list of annual events, clinics, reunions and other special activities hosted by the Iowa Spirit Squads. Make plans today to be part of the fun and excitement!

University of Iowa Cheerleading/Dance Team Championship
This annual event is staged in Carver-Hawkeye Arena each year. Cheerleading teams, dance teams and mascots from around the Midwest are among the competitors. The format rotates back and forth between cheerleading teams and dance teams, each getting half of a collegiate basketball court to show their stuff, the cheer side is matted with carpeted cheerleading mats. The Championship offers a great experience for all skill levels, from the first-time youth competitors to seasoned competition squads. The entrance fee is always affordable and each team receives a trophy and each competitor a ribbon for participation.

Alumni Homecoming
This annual event takes place in the fall during a University of Iowa football game. With various events through out the weekend, it is a great opportunity to reconnect with former teammates in addition to getting to know the members of the current squad. Events include the Homecoming Parade on Friday night, a tailgater at Duane Banks Field on Saturday morning, the Homecoming Game and an Alumni Reception Saturday evening.

Spring Kids Clinic/Halftime at Women's Basketball
Here is an opportunity for your young cheerleader/dancer to participate on the floor of Carver-Hawkeye Arena at a home game of the UI women's basketball team. Participants will attend a clinic before the day of the game to learn the halftime material, meet current squad members, take a picture with Herky, and have lots of fun. On game-day, participants will receive a t-shirt to wear at halftime, sit in the stands and watch the current Iowa Cheerleaders, Iowa Dance Team and Herky get the crowd going, and perform at halftime. This is a great opportunity for your child to participate in an awe-inspiring setting. This clinic/halftime usually occurs in February.

Summer Kids Clinic
The annual Summer Kids Clinic is an opportunity to meet the Iowa dance team and Iowa cheerleaders and learn some moves. At this clinic, participants will learn basic skills on both the cheerleading and dance team side, including jumps, turns, leaps, motion technique, basic stunts and crowd leadership. There will also be an opportunity to take pictures with the squad members and Herky the Hawk. This clinic usually takes place in early June.

Winter Dance Convention and Cheerleading/Mascot Clinic
Learn the latest material for basketball season from the Iowa spirit squad members. This clinic is usually scheduled for late November. Cheerleaders work on stunts, sideline material and crowd leadership technique, with emphasis being on stunts. The cheer clinic will take place on cheerleading mats. Dancers learn new material for basketball halftimes, plus work on skills and technique to improve themselves as dancers. Dance will have a master teacher come in to teach for part of the clinic. Mascots work on techniques to improve heir own mascot, crowd leaderhsip, improvisation, and skit creation. The clinic takes place in the UI Field House North Gym.

Cream of the Crop Exhibition
As the Iowa Spirit Squads prepare to depart for Nationals, they invite some of the top teams from around the state to exhibition at this very special event. The Iowa Spirit Squads use the Cream of the Crop exhibition as a final dress rehearsal. The exhibition is staged in the Fieldhouse North Gym and is open to the public.

Summer Alumni Picnic
Alumni have an opportunity to return to Iowa City during the summer, bring friends or family, and have a relaxing time with other alumni. Hosted in City Park, the event is a bring-your-own affair where current and former Hawkeyes enjoy an afternoon. The Summer Alumni Picnic is usually hosted in June.

Summer Prep Camps
These individual-based camps help cheerleaders and dance team members get ready for skills at the collegiate level. Dancers will cover all styles of dance, motion technique plus skills (turns, leaps, jumps) work. Cheerleaders will cover co-ed stunting, tumbling, jumps, motion technique and crowd leadership. All members will attend classroom sessions on academics preparation, health issues, tryout preparation and participate in fitness classes.

Dance Team Tryout Clinic
This clinic will help prepare you for tryouts, including work on skills technique, motion technique, and dance style. This clinic will be held at the Fieldhouse - North Gym.
Cheerleading Collegiate Clinic
This clinic will include work on co-ed partner stunting, tumbling, jumps, motion technique and an Iowa fight song. This clinic will be held at the Fieldhouse - North Gym.
