High School -- two-time state shot put champion, winning two titles at Drake Relays and Midwest High School meet... two-time elite all-state in track, captaining the shot put team as a senior... three-time conference shot put champion, winning conference discus title senior year... set conference (60-8 3/4) and school (63-2) shot put records... his best shot put (63-2) ranked him fourth in the nation indoors in 2003... placed third in discus at state meet senior year with a personal-best 168-11... lettered four years in track... coaches were Keven Besch and Jeff Brennen.
