Mincy recorded a time of 10.54 to finish fourth in his heat and 23rd overall in the men's event. Freshman O'Shea Wilson just missed moving on to the quarterfinals with a 25th-place finish (10.55). "It was kind of a rocky start," said Mincy. "The ground was a little wet so I might have had a misstep in there. I know I can finish harder than I did today, so I'm looking forward to the finals."

Junior Gabe Hull finished 15th overall in the men's shot put (58-4 ½; 17.79m), just three spots short of a top 12 finish and a trip to Eugene.
