IOWA CITY, IA - University of Iowa sophomore Brooke Eilers was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Women's All-Academic team. To be eligible for the award student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 15 (or top 10-percent) at their respective NCAA regional meet.

"Brooke success at the University of Iowa extends far beyond the cross country course," said Head Women's Track and Field Coach Layne Anderson. "She is a tremendous student and a leader in our program. She volunteers her time to a variety of community service projects and exemplifies everything that is good about collegiate and Hawkeye athletics. This will be one of many honors for Brooke and puts the finishing touches on an All-Region performance this past fall in cross country."

Eilers, a speech and hearing sciences major from Holland, MI, led the Hawkeyes with a 13th-place finish at the 2009 NCAA Midwest Regional. Her 6,000-meter time (21:14.3) earned her all-region honors and ranks eighth all-time in school history. She previously earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in 2008.

Eilers is one of 104 female student-athletes to earn All-Academic status by the USTFCCCA. The 104 USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees represent 57 schools around the country. The Big Ten, Big 12, and BIG EAST Conferences each had 15 representatives claim the honor.
