IOWA CITY, Iowa - University of Iowa sophomore Kayla Beattie was recognized Tuesday as the Big Ten Conference's Runner of the Week.
Beattie took the women's three-mile title at the Bradley Open last weekend, crossing the finish line in 16:44 to earn the first title of her collegiate career.
Beattie is the first women's cross country runner to win the award since Lauren Hardesty in 2010. The weekly honor is the first of Beattie's career.
The Hawkeyes will return to action Sept. 21 with the Toledo Bubble Buster in Toledo, Ohio.
