    DELAND, FL -- The Iowa baseball team won 5-4 Wednesday against Stetson at Conrad Park. In the win, Iowa improves to 6-8, while the Hatters fall to 9-10. In the game, Iowa had no errors and its pitching staff threw six scoreless innings.

    Zach Kenyon started his first game as a Hawkeye in the win. Kenyon pitched three and two-third innings and allowed three runs on four hits, striking out two. The Hawkeye bullpen had another strong outing in the win. The pitching staff included, Tony Manville, Andrew Porter and Matt Mossey. They pitched five and one-third innings allowing four runs on five hits and struck out five. Mossey recorded the final three outs to collect his second save of the season.

    Stetson started things off with two home runs in the first inning, to take a 2-0 lead. Frawley hit his home run with the wind blowing out, and Cruz homered directly after.

    The Hawkeyes struck back in the third, starting with a T.J. Cataldo single to second. Cataldo advanced to second on a throwing error by the second basemen and later moved on to third on a Kyle Riffel single to left center. Cataldo scored Iowa's first run when he stole home and Riffel stole second. Kevin Hoef kept things going with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch, while Riffel advanced to third. Justin Toole singled to center to plate Hoef and Riffel, but was thrown out at second to end the inning. Iowa was up 3-2.

    Stetson tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth. The frame featured a Florio RBI-single through the right side.

    The Black and Gold took the lead in the eighth. It started with a Trevor Willis walk. He was moved by a Hoef sacrifice bunt and advanced to third on a Mossey walk. With runners on first and third, Toole hit the ball in play and reached on a third base error to score Willis. Kurtis Muller hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Mossey and put Iowa on top to stay, 5-3.

    Stetson chipped away in the bottom of the eighth, featuring a Bass home run, to close within one run (5-4).

    In the Iowa win, the Hawkeyes took advantage of six walks and two Hatter errors. Toole went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Cataldo was 1-for-2 with a run. Zach McCool was 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter.

    Iowa is slated to host Grand View Saturday in their home opener at Duane Banks Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
