MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- The Iowa baseball team lost game two Saturday at Siebert Field to Minnesota, 26-9. The Gophers took a nine run lead in the first frame and never looked back--capitalizing on a season-high seven Hawkeye errors. The game featured six home runs.

The Black and Gold were led by freshmen Dallas Burke and Sean Flanagan. The two freshmen drove in all nine Iowa's runs. Burke went 3-for-4 with six RBI, a grand slam and walk and Flanagan had a three-run homer.

Minnesota (29-13,12-4) took a 9-0 lead in the bottom of the first and led the entire game. The Gophers took advantage of three Iowa errors that inning, plating only three earned runs.

The Hawkeyes (14-29,3-13) got on the board in the top of the second to trail 9-3. Nick Brown led off with a single up the middle, followed by a Wes Freie base hit. Flanagan took advantage of the two base runners and unloaded with a three-run bomb to left center.

The Gopher offense kept at it to win 26-9. Minnesota scored two in the second, 10 in the third, two in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Iowa added four in the seventh to trail 23-7. Jeff Pacha led off with a walk, followed by a Trevor Willis single and a Kurtis Muller hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Burke took advantage of the juiced bases and launched a grand slam to center.

The Hawkeyes scored two more in the top of the eighth for a 25-9 score. Phil Keppler reached on a pinch hit walk and was moved to third on a Muller double. Burke continued to swing the bat well, driving in Keppler on a single to center to pick up his sixth RBI of the game.

Iowa starter Michael Jacobs faced five batters allowing five runs and recording no out. The Black and Gold bullpen featured Patrick Schatz, Nick Erdman, Tony Manville, Zach Robertson and Kevin Lee.

The Black and Gold will play Minnesota in the final game of three at Siebert Field tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
