As a senior: Started 24 of 30 games that he played in. Averaged 22 minutes played and 5.7 points per game. In Big Ten action averaged 19 minutes and 4.9 points. Season high of 16 points against Arkansas in the NCAA tournament. Shot 43 percent in all games and 45 percent in Big Ten play. Played in 16 Big Ten games and started 10. Scored in double figures seven times. Other high point games were against Wisconsin (14), Texas Tech (11), and five times scored 10 points. Recorded season high six rebounds against Indiana. Dished-out eight assists against Arkansas-Little Rock and Boston University.

As a junior: Moved into the starting lineup at midseason and started 12 of last 14 games. Saw action in all 28 games, averaging 18 minutes and 3.9 points. Averaged around 23 minutes and 5.3 points in Big Ten play. Shot 42 percent in all games and over 47 percent in league games. Season-high of 16 at Michigan coming off the bench. Made seven of 11 shots and two of two free throws to bring Iowa back from a 15-point halftime deficit at Michigan. Managed five rebounds vs. the Wolverines. Other double digit games against Northwestern and Michigan in successive games. Season-high of six assists vs. Wisconsin and Northwestern and five against Illinois Wesleyan. Averaged 23.8 minutes for the final 18 games.

As a sophomore: Saw time at both point and second guard, averaging 2.3 points. Scored double figures in consecutive games against James Madison (12 points, 6-7 FGs) and Seton Hall (10, 5-8 FGs) to win Most Valuable Player at Rochester Classic. Dished out six assists vs. Seton Hall. Averaged almost one assist per game in 23 outings.

As a freshman: Appeared in 22 games and made 52.5 percent from the field. Scored 16 points in his college debut against Northern Illinois, making eight of nine from the field. Played shortstop for Hawkeye baseball squad.

In high school: The state's all-time leading scorer with 2,536 points. Averaged 30.6 points in 83 career games. Iowa's first Mr. Basketball, he averaged 31.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 5.0 steals in leading the Ramblers to a 24-1 record his senior season. First-team all-state his last two seasons. Father, Alden, was his coach for a team that finished second in the 1981 class A tournament. Lettered in basketball, baseball, track, golf and football at Maple Valley. National Honor Society member.
