IOWA CITY, IA - - Senior forward Greg Brunner and junior guard Adam Haluska have been selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine academic all-America third team. Iowa is the only Division I program in the nation to have two players selected for academic all-America honors.

"This is a very deserving honor for both Adam and Greg," said Iowa Coach Steve Alford. "This type of honor is a tribute to their work habits and commitment to academics. Both Adam and Greg have proven that they are at Iowa to get an outstanding education and they are taking advantage of a great opportunity. They set a great example for our younger guys to follow."

Haluska is a finance and marketing major with a 3.41 grade point average. He has been named to the District VII team in each of the last two seasons. The Carroll, IA native has started all 28 games, scoring double figures in 23. He is averaging 14.1 points and 4.6 rebounds, shooting 41.4% from the field and 83.9% from the foul line. He has started all 92 games in his college career, a streak that ranks 10th in the nation.

Haluska scored a career-high 29 points earlier this season in a win at Penn State and he was named co-Big Ten Player of the Week after helping the Hawkeyes to back-to-back wins over Indiana and Ohio State in late January.

Brunner, a Charles City native, is a communications studies major with a 3.25 GPA. He is a two-time academic all-Big Ten selection. He leads Iowa in both scoring (14.7) and rebounding (9.9) this season and is the Big Ten's leading rebounder.

Brunner ranks among Iowa's career leaders in several categories, including rebounds (first), blocked shots (sixth), free throw attempts (eighth), field goals (ninth) and points (10th). He has recorded 11 scoring and rebounding double-doubles this season and has 31 in his career, most among active Big Ten players. Brunner set a Carver-Hawkeye Arena record earlier this season with 23 rebounds in a win over Minnesota.
