IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa men's basketball program ranked 21st in the nation in home attendance (13,625) during the 2012-13 season, according to figures released by the NCAA.

Along with ranking 21st in average attendance, Iowa ranked eighth-best nationally in improvement over the previous year (1,756 per game) and 15th in total attendance for all games (478,871). The Hawkeyes won a school record 18 home games last season, posting an 18-2 mark on Mediacom Court. The Hawkeyes had six sellouts (15,400) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa posted a 25-13 overall record, matching its second-highest win total in school history, while advancing to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship game.

"I was so excited to see Carver-Hawkeye Arena full and alive again," said UI director of athletics Gary Barta. "I'm happy for our student-athletes, I'm happy for Fran and his coaches, and I'm happy for our fans."

The Big Ten Conference led the nation in home attendance (13,114) for the 37th-straight season, as over 2.9 million fans witnessed Big Ten games. Seven league schools ranked among the top 25 nationally as the Big Ten set an all-time total attendance mark (2,937,630) for the second-straight season.

Iowa ranked among the national leaders in home attendance in four sports during the 2012-13 year. The Iowa wrestling program led the nation in home attendance for the seventh consecutive year, women's basketball ranked 19th and football and men's basketball each ranked 21st.

"I've always known and publicly said, `Hawkeye fans are the best.' These national attendance rankings are proof-positive of those feelings," said Barta. "We are extremely fortunate and very proud."

The UI ticket office is currently accepting season ticket requests, for both renewals and new orders. Fans can order tickets online at hawkeyesports.com, or by calling 1-800-IAHAWKS. Iowa returns all but one player, senior Eric May, for the 2013-14 season.
