THE STAFFWhat's better than having an experienced head coach? Having an experienced coaching staff. Along with UI head coach Fran McCaffery, the Hawkeyes have a coaching staff that has combined for over 40 years of head coaching experience.
McCaffery, who is in his 16th year as a head coach, has guided three different programs to the NCAA Tournament. Assistant coaches Kirk Speraw, Sherman Dillard and Andrew Francis have over six decades of combined coaching experience. Dillard was a head coach at Indiana State (1994-97) and James Madison (1997-2004), while Speraw, a two-year Iowa letterwinner, served as the head coach at Central Florida for 17 seasons and at Pensecola Junior College. Francis, meanwhile, came with McCaffery from Siena, where he was an assistant coach for three seasons. Al Seibert has 18 years of coaching experience and has worked individually with a number of athletics drafted in the NBA. Seibert, who is in his second year at Iowa, serves as the team's video coordinator. Experience runs deep in the Iowa staff, as Director of Basketball Operations Jerry Strom is in his 32nd year with the program, while Travel Coordinator John Streif has served the Hawkeyes since 1972!
