IOWA CITY -- Talk is cheap, especially during the football preseason. On the other hand, it never hurts when the national media has compliments for several different aspects of your program, whether it be the day before an open-to-the-public scrimmage or on the eve of a season-opening showdown against Northern Illinois.

Two national websites -- Sporting News.com and SI.com -- tipped their hats to the Hawkeye program last week. On Wednesday, Aug. 15, Sporting News featured the UI receiving corps in the article "Iowa expects big things from young WRs."

"Dominique Douglas wound up leading the nation in receptions by a freshman (in 2006), with 49, and Andy Brodell turned in two dominating performances to close out the season," the article states. "Douglas and Brodell, who will be joined by sophomores Trey Stross and Anthony Bowman and redshirt freshman James Cleveland, head into the 2007 season with a year of Big Ten experience under their belts and confidence earned only through playing time." The following day, SI.com rated the Hawkeye running back duo of Albert Young and Damian Sims as the seventh-best combination in the nation.

"This, ladies and gentlemen, is probably the most underrated duo in the nation," said Cory McCartney of SI.com. Click here for the article on Albert & Damian

The UI program remained on SI.com's radar today (Friday, Aug. 17). Hawkeye defensive end Bryan Mattison was listed as one of five Big Ten Players to Watch and Iowa was named the "sleeper" team in the conference. Read more about the Hawkeyes in SI.com
