IOWA CITY, IOWA - Rob Jeter, Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named honorary captain for Saturday's home opener against Eastern Illinois. The Hawkeyes face the Panthers in a Big Ten Network televised game with kickoff set for 11:01 a.m., in Kinnick Stadium. The game is sold out, which means Iowa has sold out 43 of its last 45 home games.

Rob Jeter will be representing his father as honorary captain. He is the son of all-Big Ten Iowa halfback, Bob Jeter, who passed away in 2008. Bob Jeter lettered three times (1957-59) and played on two Rose Bowl teams. He was named outstanding player in the 1959 Rose Bowl game. He set three Rose Bowl records in Iowa's 38-12 win over California. He rushed for 194 yards and had an 81-yard TD run in that game.

He went on to an all-pro career with the Green Packers and Chicago Bears. After being drafted by the Packers in the 1960 NFL draft, he went on to play 11 years as an NFL cornerback. He won three NFL Championship rings with the Packers. He is a member of the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame.

Rob Jeter will accompany the Iowa captains to the center of the field for the pre-game coin-flip. He will also be with the Hawkeyes in the locker room before and after the game and on the sidelines during the contest.
