IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa football program is tied for ninth in the nation with 25 former players on active NFL rosters. In addition, nine other Hawkeyes reside on practice squads or injured reserve.
Iowa ties Michigan for second in the Big Ten amongst NFL alumni on active rosters. Ohio State leads the way with 35. Iowa has five former tight ends in the league, which equals USC and Stanford for the most.
The NFL continued regular season action over the weekend with its sixth week of games. A number of former Hawkeyes saw action and had success for their respective teams.
Jonathan Babineaux - DL - Atlanta Falcons: Babineaux has started 66 consecutive games for Atlanta. He leads Atlanta with five tackles for loss this year. The Falcons had a bye this week.
Christian Ballard - DL - Minnesota Vikings: Ballard, one of a Big Ten-best six Hawkeyes drafted in 2011, recorded a QB hurry in Minnesota's win over Arizona on Sunday. The defensive tackle played in all 16 games, with two starts, a year ago. He has played in all seven contests this season.
Jordan Bernstine - DB - Washington Redskins: Bernstine was moved to the Redskins' injured reserve list after an injury in the season opener.
Bryan Bulaga - OL - Green Bay Packers: Bulaga, in his third season with the Packers, made his 31st career start on Sunday as Green Bay won at St. Louis, 30-20.
Scott Chandler - TE - Buffalo Bills: Chandler caught two passes for 15 yards on Sunday in the Bills loss to the Titans. He is tied for 11th in the NFL with four touchdown catches this season.
Dallas Clark - TE - Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Hauled in five receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown in Tampa Bay's loss to the Saints on Sunday.
Adrian Clayborn - DL - Tampa Bay Buccaneers: In his second year in the league, Clayborn is on the Buccaneers' injured reserve list. The former Iowa All-American started all 19 games in his career for Tampa Bay prior to the injury. Clayborn registered 7.5 sacks during his rookie campaign in 2011.
Sean Considine - DB - Baltimore Ravens: Saw action but recorded no statistics in Baltimore's loss at Houston on Sunday.
Mike Daniels - DL - Green Bay Packers: Saw action but recorded no statistics in Green Bay's 30-20 win at St. Louis on Sunday.
A.J. Edds - LB - Indianapolis Colts: In his third year in the league, Edds is on the Colts' injured reserve list.
Bradley Fletcher - DB - St. Louis Rams: Fletcher tallied six total tackles, including four solo stops, in the Rams' loss to Green Bay on Sunday.
Adam Gettis - OL - Washington Redskins: Listed as second team right guard for the Redskins.
Charles Godfrey - DB - Carolina Panthers: Godfrey tallied five total tackles, including four solo stops, as the Panthers fell to the Cowboys. Godfrey became the first rookie in team history to start all 16 games at safety in 2008. He has started 63 of the last 64 games for the Panthers.
Shonn Greene - RB - New York Jets: Greene had another strong week for the Jets, carrying 16 times for 54 yards and a touchdown and adding six catches for 34 yards. The former All-American and 2008 Doak Walker Award Winner has started 21 of the last 23 contests. He ranks tied for third in the NFL with five rushing scores this season.
Chad Greenway - LB - Minnesota Vikings: Greenway turned in seven tackles, including five solo stops and a tackle for loss, in Minnesota's win against Arizona on Sunday. The former Iowa All-American ranks third in the league with 68 total tackles this season.
Brad Herman - TE - New England Patriots: In his first year in the league, Herman is on the Patriots' injured reserve list.
Nate Kaeding - K - San Diego Chargers: Kaeding, the NFL's all-time most accurate field goal kicker (.870), has been placed on injured reserve.
Karl Klug - DL - Tennessee Titans: Played but recorded no stats in win at Buffalo. Klug has appeared in all 23 games for Tennessee during his first two seasons, making one start in each. As a rookie in 2011, Klug compiled a team-high seven sacks. The total tied for sixth place in sacks among all NFL rookies, tied for fourth among all NFL defensive tackles, and led all NFL rookie defensive tackles.
Bryan Mattison - OL - Kansas City Chiefs: Mattison is listed as the second team center for the Chiefs.
Marvin McNutt - WR - Philadelphia Eagles: In his first year in the league, McNutt is a member of the Eagles practice squad.
Tony Moeaki - TE - Kansas City Chiefs: Moeaki and the Chiefs had a bye. He has started five of six games this season, and 20 of 21 in his career.
Brandon Myers - TE - Oakland Raiders: Myers hauled in a team-best and equaled a game-high with seven receptions, totaling 44 yards in Oakland's win against Jacksonville. He leads Oakland in catches (28) and receiving yards (334) this season.
Seth Olsen - OL - Indianapolis Colts: After starting the first three games of the season for Indianapolis, Olsen has been placed on the team's injured reserve list.
Shaun Prater - DB - Cincinnati Bengals: In his first year in the league, Prater is on the Bengals' injured reserve list.
Riley Reiff - OL - Detroit Lions: Reiff and the Lions play on Monday Night Football tonight at Chicago (7:30 p.m. CT, ESPN). Reiff has played in all five games for Detroit this season, with one start. He was Detroit's first round pick in 2012, marking the third-straight season an Iowa player was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Allen Reisner - TE - Minnesota Vikings: Reisner is currently on the Vikings practice squad. He played in Minnesota's first three games this season.
Tyler Sash - DB - New York Giants: Saw action but recorded no statistics in New York's come-from-behind win over Washington on Sunday. Sash won a super bowl ring during his rookie season with the Giants in 2011.
