IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa football program is tied for ninth in the nation with 25 former players on active NFL rosters. In addition, nine other Hawkeyes reside on practice squads or injured reserve.
Iowa ties Michigan for second in the Big Ten amongst NFL alumni on active rosters. Ohio State leads the way with 35. Iowa has five former tight ends in the league, which equals USC and Stanford for the most.
The NFL continued regular season action over the weekend. A number of former Hawkeyes saw action and had success for their respective teams.
Jonathan Babineaux - DL - Atlanta Falcons: Babineaux has started 67 of the last 68 games for Atlanta. He had a big game for the Falcons on Sunday night, leading the team with seven tackles. He registered five solo stops, a sack, a tackle for loss, and a defended pass. Babineaux leads Atlanta with six tackles for loss this year.
Christian Ballard - DL - Minnesota Vikings: Ballard, one of a Big Ten-best six Hawkeyes drafted in 2011, saw action but recorded no statistics in the Vikings' loss at Seattle on Sunday. The defensive tackle played in all 16 games, with two starts, a year ago. He has played in all nine contests this season.
Jordan Bernstine - DB - Washington Redskins: Bernstine was moved to the Redskins' injured reserve list after an injury in the season opener.
Bryan Bulaga - OL - Green Bay Packers: Bulaga, in his third season with the Packers, made his 33rd career start on Sunday as Green Bay defeated the Cardinals.
Scott Chandler - TE - Buffalo Bills: Chandler caught three passes for 51 yards on Sunday. He is tied for 21st in the NFL with four touchdown catches this season.
Dallas Clark - TE - Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tallied two catches for 22 yards in Tampa Bay's win over Oakland on Sunday.
Adrian Clayborn - DL - Tampa Bay Buccaneers: In his second year in the league, Clayborn is on the Buccaneers' injured reserve list. The former Iowa All-American started all 19 games in his career for Tampa Bay prior to the injury. Clayborn registered 7.5 sacks during his rookie campaign in 2011.
Sean Considine - DB - Baltimore Ravens: Considine recorded two tackles, including one solo stop, in the Ravens' win at Cleveland on Sunday.
Mike Daniels - DL - Green Bay Packers: Recorded two solo stops, including a sack and a tackle for loss, in Green Bay's win over Arizona on Sunday.
A.J. Edds - LB - Indianapolis Colts: In his third year in the league, Edds is on the Colts' injured reserve list.
Bradley Fletcher - DB - St. Louis Rams: Fletcher and the Rams had a bye this week.
Adam Gettis - OL - Washington Redskins: Listed as second team right guard for the Redskins.
Charles Godfrey - DB - Carolina Panthers: Godfrey registered five tackles, including two solo stops, and a pass defended in the Panthers win at Washington on Sunday. Godfrey became the first rookie in team history to start all 16 games at safety in 2008. He has started 65 of the last 66 games for the Panthers.
Shonn Greene - RB - New York Jets: Greene and the Jets had a bye this week. The former All-American and 2008 Doak Walker Award Winner has started 22 of the last 24 contests. He ranks tied for seventh in the NFL with five rushing scores this season.
Chad Greenway - LB - Minnesota Vikings: Greenway led the Vikings with 13 tackles, including four solo stops, against Seattle. The former Iowa All-American leads the league with 94 total tackles this season.
Brad Herman - TE - New England Patriots: In his first year in the league, Herman is on the Patriots' injured reserve list.
Karl Klug - DL - Tennessee Titans: Played but recorded no stats in Tennessee's loss to the Bears. Klug has appeared in all 25 games for Tennessee during his first two seasons, making one start in each. As a rookie in 2011, Klug compiled a team-high seven sacks. The total tied for sixth place in sacks among all NFL rookies, tied for fourth among all NFL defensive tackles, and led all NFL rookie defensive tackles.
Bryan Mattison - OL - Kansas City Chiefs: Mattison is listed as the second team center for the Chiefs.
Marvin McNutt - WR - Philadelphia Eagles: In his first year in the league, McNutt is a member of the Eagles practice squad.
Tony Moeaki - TE - Kansas City Chiefs: Moeaki started for the Chiefs but did not record any statistics. He has started seven of eight games this season, and 22 of 23 in his career.
Brandon Myers - TE - Oakland Raiders: Myers hauled in a team-best eight receptions for 59 yards, including two touchdowns in Oakland's loss at Tampa Bay on Sunday. The touchdowns were the first of his career. He leads Oakland in catches (39) and is second in receiving yards (442) this season.
Seth Olsen - OL - Indianapolis Colts: After starting the first three games of the season for Indianapolis, Olsen has been placed on the team's injured reserve list.
Shaun Prater - DB - Cincinnati Bengals: In his first year in the league, Prater is on the Bengals' injured reserve list.
Riley Reiff - OL - Detroit Lions: Reiff saw significant action in the Lions win at Jacksonville on Sunday. He was in for all four of the Lions touchdown runs. Reiff has played in all eight games for Detroit this season, with three starts. He was Detroit's first round pick in 2012, marking the third-straight season an Iowa player was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Read more about Reiff's contributions to the Lions here.
Allen Reisner - TE - Minnesota Vikings: Reisner tallied one catch for 13 yards in Minnesota's loss at Seattle on Sunday. He has played in four games this season for the Vikings.
Tyler Sash - DB - New York Giants: Saw action but recorded no statistics in New York's loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Sash won a super bowl ring during his rookie season with the Giants in 2011.
Amari Spievey - DB - Detroit Lions: Did not play due to injury.
Ricky Stanzi - QB - Kansas City Chiefs: Did not see action.
Jeff Tarpinian - LB - New England Patriots: Tarpinian and the Patriots had a bye this week.
Julian Vandervelde - OL - Philadelphia Eagles: Vandervelde is a member of the Eagles practice squad. He spent the 2011 season with Philadelphia.
Marshal Yanda - OL - Baltimore Ravens: Yanda made his 66th career start in the team's win at Cleveland. He has started every game the last three seasons.
Markus Zusevics - OL - New England Patriots: In his first year in the league, Zusevics is on the Patriots' injured reserve list.
