Iowa Finishes Day One At Kepler Invite

COLUMBUS, OH - The University of Iowa men's golf team finished day one of the Robert Kepler Invitational today. The Hawkeyes are tied for ninth place after a 36-hole score of 619 (+51). With a first round score of 307 (+23), Iowa was in sixth place before posting a second round 312 (+28). Northwestern is leading the 13-team field with a 597 (+29). The 40th annual invitational is being held on the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, OH. The Hawkeyes were led by sophomore Vince India who shot a 148 (+6) and is tied for seventh place. Freshman Barrett Kelpin is in a tie for 37th after carding a 156 (+14) and freshman Brad George is tied for 51st with a 159 (+17). Sophomore Brad Hopfinger and senior Cole Peevler both recorded an 18-hole total of 160 (+18) and are tied for 57th. "We got off to a decent start this morning, but we let strokes go at the end that cost us our position," said Head Coach Mark Hankins. "Tomorrow we expect similar conditions and plan on putting five solid scores together."
