Hawkeyes Move Up Regional Leader Board

SORRENTO, FL - The University of Iowa men's golf team excelled in its second round of the NCAA Central Florida Regional Friday, in Sorrento, FL. After carding a stellar 278 (-6), the Hawkeyes are in seventh place with a 36-hole total of 561 (-7). Today was the second time this season Iowa has shot a 278, and is the third best 18-hole team score in Iowa history. The University of Central Florida remains on top of the 14-team leader board with a 545 (-23).
Brad Hopfinger is leading the Hawkeyes after putting together a stellar second round of 67 (-4). The sophomore's 18-hole score ranks as the 5th lowest in school history. Hopfinger is tied for 11th with a two day score of 138 (-4). Freshman Chris Brant shot a one-under par 70 today and is tied for 21st with a total score of 140 (-2). Senior Cole Peevler and sophomore Vince India are both tied for 37th with scores of 143 (+1). Additionally, freshman Barrett Kelpin has a 36-hole total of 144 (+2) and is tied for 44th.
