DURHAM, N.C. - The University of Iowa men's golf team currently stands at 10th place in the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C.

Senior Ryan Marks shot a 77 (+5) in the first round, but improved his score by eight strokes in his second round, shooting a 69 (-3). The Warrensburg, Mo., native highlighted his second round with an eagle on the par-five, 573-yard seventh hole. He currently holds a tie for 20th place individually.

Junior Ian Vandersee, making his first tournament appearance of the year, shot rounds of 72 (E) and 75 (+3), and currently holds a tie with nine golfers for 28th place.

Junior Brian Bullington fired a 73 (+1) in his first round and followed it with a second round score of 75 (+3), tying him for 37th place. The Frankfort, Ill., native carded seven birdies on the day.

Senior Steven Ihm, who was runner-up in the 2011 Rod Myers Invitational, carded rounds of 78 (+6) and 71 (-1) on Saturday and is currently tied for 43rd place.

Freshman Carson Schaake, a native of Omaha, Neb., made his first collegiate appearance on Saturday, and fired a 82 (+10) in his first round. He improved his score by six strokes in the second round, carding a 76 (+4).

Northwestern currently leads the tournament after a first-day score of 563 (-8), which is 12 strokes ahead of second place North Carolina and Baylor.

"We had a couple guys that were competitively rusty and it showed this morning," said head coach Mark Hankins. "We got it going this afternoon but gave a few shot back late in the round to finish two-over. We will learn from today's rounds and put that in play tomorrow."

The Hawkeyes return to action on Sunday morning, with tee times ranging from 8:15 to 8:55 a.m. Live stats are available at Golfstat.com.
