ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The University of Iowa men's golf team advanced from seventh to fourth place after the second round of the U.S. Collegiate Championship on Saturday, carding a team-total of 287 (-1).

Junior Brian Bullington began the day in a tie for 10th place individually, and repeated his first-day score of 70 (-2) to move into a tie for third. The Frankfort, Ill., native carded four birdies during Saturday's round.

Junior Ian Vandersee carded a 74 (+2) on Saturday, pushing him back to a tie for 20th place individually.

Senior Steven Ihm propelled himself 30 spots from 59th to a tie for 29th place after carding a 69 (-3). The Peosta, Iowa, native's second round was tied for the lowest of the day.

Junior Joseph Winslow and Raymond Knoll carded rounds of 74 (+2) and 76 (+4) respectively, and are currently tied for 51st place.

The Hawkeyes team-total for the tournament moves to 574 (-2), and ties Wake Forest for fourth overall. Iowa trails tournament leader Oklahoma State by nine strokes.

The day-one leader, Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans, retained his lead after shooting a 69 (-3) on Saturday. Schniederjans, whose two-round total is 135 (-9), leads the second-place golfer, Oklahoma State's Jordan Niebrugge, by four strokes.

Oklahoma State snagged the tournament lead from Georgia Tech, after shooting a 281 (-7) on Saturday.
