Iowa Finishes Fall Season at Royal Oaks Intercollegiate

DALLAS, Texas - The University of Iowa men's golf team finished tied for ninth at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate as senior Barrett Kelpin earned another top-20 finish. With a final round of 288 (+4), the 25th-ranked Hawkeyes posted a tournament total of 863 (+11) to tie with Tulsa. Texas A&M won the 14-team tournament with a three-round total of 22-under par 830. Play was held on the par 71, 7,068-yard Royal Oaks Golf Course in Dallas, Texas. In Tuesday's final round, Kelpin carded his second round under par with an 18-hole total of two-under 69. He began the day with a birdie on the par-4, 10th hole and stayed at even par or better throughout the round. Kelpin erased his only bogie with a birdie on the par-5, 18th hole and finished his final nine holes at one-under par. The Kalamazoo, Mich., native finished tied for 19th with a tournament total of one-under par 212. Senior Chris Brant finished tied for 30th with a three-round mark of 216 (+3). In 54-holes of play, Brant posted just eight holes above par. In his final round of 73 (+2), he posted 15 holes of even par or better. Senior Brad George and freshman Ian Vandersee tied for 43rd with scores of 218 (+5). Vandersee tied his tournament-best round with a final day total of 72 (+1), while George posted a 74 (+3). Additionally, sophomore Steven Ihm tied for 60th with a 54-hole mark of 223 (+10). The Royal Oaks Intercollegiate was the fifth and final tournament on Iowa's fall schedule as the Hawkeyes posted their best 54-hole mark of the season by 11 strokes. Iowa has also compiled six top-10 individual competitors this season. Kelpin leads the team with a season stroke average of 71.93. Team Results (Par 71)
