LAS VEGAS -- Freshmen Jack Boyle and Matt Loochtan traveled to Las Vegas this weekend to compete in the 2013 Winter Cup Challenge.

Action began Thursday afternoon with two preliminary sessions, where Boyle and Loochtan earned three top-20 finishes. Boyle scored a 13.700 on parallel bars tying for 17th place. He finished 19th on the high bar, posting a score of 13.450. Loochtan scored a 14.450 on vault, earning 20th place.

Both Hawkeyes competed on all six events in the preliminary sessions. Boyle finished the all-around with a score of 77.950, while Loochtan finished with a 76.100. Neither gymnast qualified for Saturday evening's finals session.

Boyle and Loochtan will return to action with the rest of the Hawkeyes when they travel to Illinois on Feb. 16. The dual will begin at 4 p.m. at Huff Hall.
