With JD Reive leading the University of Iowa men's gymnastics team, the Hawkeyes have a new found champion pedigree.
Iowa completed its most successful season in nearly a decade under Reive in 2013. The Hawkeyes finished fifth nationally, marking the program's best finish since 2000, and finished with three All-America honors, the most since 2005. The fifth-place finish marked the third-best of any Big Ten school in 2013.
Reive, who is the seventh UI head coach in program history, came to Iowa City after serving as an assistant coach at national power Stanford. In Palo Alto, Reive helped guide the Cardinal to four top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships, including the 2009 NCAA title, and coached 44 student-athletes to All-America honors.
Reive maintained ties to the Hawkeye tradition with the addition of four-year UI letterwinner Ben Ketelsen to his staff as an assistant coach.
Reive added Minyoung Kwon as an assistant coach on July 10, 2014. Kwon has over 30 years of experience with the sport, stemming from his time on the Korean National Team.
