Hawk Item -- Honorable mention All-America honoree in five events in his career... member of the school-record setting 200-medley (1:25.82), 400-medley (3:09.66), 400-free (2:52.53) and 800 free (6:26.79) relays... also a part of relays that have the second and seventh-best times in the 200-medley relay, second-best in 400-medley relay, second, third, seventh and ninth in 200-free relay, second, fourth, eighth and ninth in 400-free relay and second, fourth and seventh in 800-free relay... individually, has the fourth-best time in 200 free (1:35.87) and 10th-fastest in 100 free (44.04).

2012-13 -- Honorable mention All-America selection in the 200 and 400 medley relays at the NCAA Championships... finished 13th in the 400-medley relay that posted a school-record time of 3:09.66 and 16th in 200-medley relay (1:26.42) at NCAAs... also was a member of the 800-free relay that finished 27th overall (6:29.96)... team co-captain... had NCAA "B" qualifying times in the 100 (44.20) and 200 free (1:36.29)... led team in the 100 free (44.04) and had second-fastest time in 200 free (1:36.29)... swam on all five relays at the Big Ten Championships, notching a third-place finish in the 400-medley relay (3:10.18), fifth place in 200-medley relay in a school-record 1:25.82, and sixth in the 800-free relay (6:26.79) in a school-record time... finished 11th in the 200 free (1:36.29) at the Big Ten Championships... swam season best times in the 50 free (20.52) at the Hawkeye Invitational... ... swam on team-leading 200-free (1:19.82), 400-free (2:56.07), 800-free (6:26.79), 200-medley (1:25.82) and 400-medley (3:09.66) medley relays... co-recipient of the Armbruster/Patton Team MVP award, the Irving B. Weber Award, presented to an athlete who displays outstanding team leadership, the Wally Ris Memorial Award, given to the fastest 100-freestyler and the Strength and Conditioning Award... recipient of Iowa's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award... letterwinner.

2011-12 -- Team-co-captain... All-America honorable mention swimmer in the 400 (2:54.22) and 800 free (6:29.33) relays that placed 11th and 15th, respectively, at the NCAA Championships... named first team All-Big Ten in the 400 free relay (2:52.53)... member of the 400 free relay (2:52.33) that won the Big Ten title... earned the Jim Marshall and Strength and Conditioning Achievement awards at the team banquet... swam collegiate best times in the 100 (44.04) and 200 (1:35.87) free at the Big Ten Championships... was Iowa's Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree at the Big Ten Championships... qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials... recorded 13 top-three finishes... swam on nine winning relays... letterwinner.

2010-11 -- All-America honorable mention swimmer in the 400 free relay (2:54.82) that placed 15th at the 2011 NCAA Championships... also swam the 200 free (1:37.45) at the NCAA Championships... swam collegiate best times in the 50 (20.38) and 200 (1:36.15) free at the Big Ten Championships and 100 back (52.79) vs. Truman State... placed seventh in the 200 free (1:36.15) at the Big Ten Championships... member of 200 free (1:18.28), 400 free (2:53.50) and 800 free relays (6:27.36) that set school records at the 2011 Big Ten Championships... recorded 10 top-two finishes... swam on eight winning relays... letterwinner.

2009-10 -- Met NCAA `B' standards as part of team-leading 200 free (1:19.26), 400 free (2:56.20) and 800 free (6:27.66) relays... swam collegiate best times in the 50 free (20.60), 100 free (44.24), 200 free (1:37.46), and 500 free (4:36.21)... placed seventh in 200 free and 15th in 100 free at Big Ten Championships... posted 16 top-three finishes... swam on 16 winning relays... letterwinner.

High School -- Ten-time All-American... eight-time all-state and all-conference... three-time District Athlete of the Year... two-time state and conference athlete of the Year.. six-time state champion, winning five conference titles... set school records in 50 free (20.88), 100 free (45.07), 200 free (1:39.66) and 500 free (4:47.94)... four-time team MVP and two-time team captain... his team won state title senior year... coached by Dan Duclos, Pete Ross and Doug Colin.
