FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The University of Iowa men's 800 free relay team of Jordan Huff, Gianni Sesto, Ryan Phelan and Paul Gordon garnered Honorable Mention All-America recognition in the event on the second day of the Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

The Hawkeyes finished 15th among 17 relay squads with a time of 6:29.33. The squad is the 12th 800 free relay team to earn All-America honors in school history. The last Iowa 800 free relay to receive the accolade was in 1995, consisting of Krzysztof Cwalina, Jim Mulligan, Eric Marchitell and Rafal Szukala.

The 800 free relay is the second Iowa quartet to earn All-America honors at the 2012 NCAA Championships. Phelan, Duncan Partridge, Sesto and Gordon opened the championships with an 11th place finish in the 200 free relay (1:18.30) to claim All-America honors.

Three Iowa swimmers competed in the 200 free individually. In the preliminaries, Huff placed (1:36.57) 28th, Gordon (1:37.19) 35th and Sesto (1:39.60) 46th.

Gordon, Huff, Phelan, Partridge and Sesto will compete individually today in the 100 free. Gordon, Huff, Phelan and Partridge will also represent the Hawkeyes in the 400 free relay

The preliminaries are set to begin at 1 p.m. (CT) and finals will be held at 9 p.m. (CT).
