IOWA CITY, IA - The University of Iowa men's and women's swimming teams swept the University of Purdue at the Field House pool. The men's squad beat the Boilermakers 162.5-137.5, while the women's squad came away with a 154-144 victory.

Leading the way for the Iowa men's swimming team were sophomore Kevin Velleca, and freshman Mariusz Muras and Tomasz Dziedzic. All three swimmers came away with first place finishes in individual events. Velleca was also involved in victories in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Dziedzic also anchored the 400 freestyle relay on way to a victory.

Individually leading the way for the Hawkeyes' women's swimming team was junior all-American Jennifer Skolaski. Skolaski took individual victories in the 100 backstroke, 500 freestyle, and 200 IM. She also swam the first leg of the victorious 400 Medley Relay.

The Iowa men's team travels to South Bend, IN to face Notre Dame, Louisville, and BYU. Competition is set for November 14th at 4 p.m. The women's team will travel next to Minneapolis, MN to compete in the Minnesota Invitational on November 21-23.
