IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Senior Dustin Rhoads has qualified for the 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas, qualifying in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events. This marks the fourth consecutive year the University of Iowa men's swimming and diving team will be represented at the NCAA Championships.

"We're very proud to have Dustin Rhoads represent the Hawkeyes at the NCAA Championships," said UI head coach Marc Long. "He's a determined and dedicated student-athlete who is having a tremendous career at Iowa."

Rhoads, an Ames, Iowa, native, enters the NCAA Championships with the 29th-fastest time in the field in the 100-back (46.53), and the 34th-fastest time in the 200-back (1:42.94). Rhoads currently holds the school record in the 200-back (1:42.94), and the second-fastest time in program history in the 100-back (46.53).

"It's especially rewarding to see a talented Iowa high school product like Dusty progress so far," said Long. "It's an honor for Dusty to be invited to what's arguably the fastest and most competitive swimming and diving meet in the world."

The 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 27-29 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

The preliminaries for the 100-back will take place on Friday, March 28 with the session slated to begin at 11 a.m. (CT). The 200-back prelims will be held on Saturday, March 29, with the session set to being at 11 a.m. as well.
