BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Iowa men's tennis team (7-11, 0-6) fell to No. 69 Indiana (12-10, 4-2) Saturday afternoon, 7-0.
The Hawkeyes dropped the first two double matches at the start of play to lose the doubles point to the Hoosiers. Michael Swank and Joey White fell to MacTaggart and Bednarcyzk of Indiana, 8-4 in No. 2 doubles while Garret Dunn and Chase Tomlins fell to Tasic and Essick of Indiana, 8-5 in No. 3 doubles. The final doubles match was not finished once the point had already been decided.
Iowa struggled in singles competition, losing all six matches. Competing in the No. 6 singles slot, Andres Estenssoro fell to Essick of Indiana in a tie breaker, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).
The Hawkeyes see action next on Sunday against Purdue in West Lafayette at noon.
